Geelong/Bellarine

About the area

The Greater Geelong and Bellarine system sources surface water from the Barwon and Moorabool River systems, and groundwater from the Barwon Downs borefield. The Greater Geelong and Bellarine system services the townships of Geelong, Aireys Inlet, Anankie, Avalon, Balliang, Bamganie, Bannockburn, Batesford, Birregurra, Fairhaven, Fyansford, Gheringhap, Inverleigh, Leopold, Lethbridge, Little River, Marshall, Maude, Meredith, Modewarre, Moorabool, Moriac, Mount Moriac, Murgheboluc, She Oakes, Shelford, Staughton Vale, Sutherlands Creek, Teesdale, Thompson, Winchelsea and Wurdiboluc.

Water treatment plants at Wurdee Boluc, She Oakes, Barwon Downs and Anglesea produce potable water supply for urban use.

This system is supplied by Barwon Water.
