About the area

The Gellibrand Groundwater Management Area (GMA) covers a layered aquifer sequence of sand and gravel, mixed with silt and clay. It is bordered to the south by the Gellibrand River and the Gerangamete GMA in the north.

The water authority responsible for managing groundwater in the Gellibrand GMA is Southern Rural Water.

The Gellibrand GMA Local Management Plan applies to groundwater resources for all formations below the surface.
