About the area
The Otway system sources surface water from rivers and streams in the Gellibrand catchment, and groundwater from local aquifers. This supply is supplemented by the Warrnambool Roof Water Harvesting Scheme, and inflows from this scheme are captured in the water balance below under Inflow from surface water.
The Otway system services the townships of Warrnambool, Simpson, Cobden, Camperdown, Noorat, Glenormiston, Lismore, Derrinallum, Terang, Mortlake, Purnim, Allansford & Koroit. This system delivers potable water via numerous water treatment plants.
