About the area
- Wannon Water’s region extends over 23,500 km2 from the South Australian border in the west, to Balmoral in the north, to Lismore in the east and to the lower Gellibrand River catchment on the south coast.
- The City of Warrnambool, Corangamite Shire, Glenelg Shire, Moyne Shire and Southern Grampians Shire local government areas are all within its service area.
- Most of Wannon Water’s supply systems provide for both towns and rural customers and are shown as consolidated systems.

2021-22 overview
Urban deliveries
11,118 ML of urban residential and non-residential deliveries were made in 2021-22, similar to the previous year (10,477 ML in 2020-21).
Wastewater recycled at treatment plants
17% of wastewater was recycled (1,867 ML of 11,011 ML).

Wannon Water operates 15 water supply systems, including 4 sourced from surface water, 10 from groundwater and one from both. Water is sourced from the and Otway basins.

Recycled water
Water recycled at wastewater treatment plants can be used to supplement water available in river basins. Table 2 below lists the wastewater treatment plants managed by Wannon Water. Water discharged to the environment from treatment plants is included as an inflow to the water balance for each of the river basins.
The Essential Services Commission made some changes to recycled water data categories in 2021-22, so we have not included a comparison to 2020-21 in the table below.
