Gippsland Water services an area of approximately 5,000 km2 in the Latrobe Valley.
Water services are provided to roughly 165,000 people via 11 separate water supply systems.
Major industries serviced include dairy, energy and pulp and paper.

2023-24 overview
Urban deliveries
56,652 ML of urban residential and non-residential deliveries were made in 2023-24, similar to the previous year (60,021 ML in 2022-23).
Wastewater recycled at treatment plants
10% of wastewater was recycled (2,315 ML of 24,176 ML), similar to 8% in 2022-23.

Gippsland Water operates 11 urban water supply systems, including 2 sourced from groundwater. Water is sourced from the Bunyip, East Gippsland, Latrobe, Mitchell, Murray, Snowy, South Gippsland, Tambo and Thomson basins.

Recycled water
Water recycled at wastewater treatment plants can be used to supplement water available in river basins. Table 2 lists the wastewater treatment plants managed by Gippsland Water. Water discharged to the environment from treatment plants is included as an inflow to the water balance for each of the river basins.
