About the area
South East Water is one of Melbourne’s three retail water corporations. It obtains treated bulk water from Melbourne Water and operates a single, integrated water supply system covering south-east Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and part of South Gippsland.

2023-24 overview
Urban deliveries
155,805 ML of urban residential and non-residential deliveries were made in 2023-24, similar to the previous year (150,949 ML).
Wastewater recycled at treatment plants
26% of wastewater was recycled (3,810 ML of 14,937 ML), similar to 18% in 2022-23.

Recycled water
Water recycled at wastewater treatment plants can be used to supplement water available in river basins. Table 2 lists the wastewater treatment plants managed by South East Water. Water discharged to the environment from treatment plants is included as an inflow to the water balance for each of the river basins.
